Termites in Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan
Termites are everywhere across Australia and certainly in South East Queensland. According to the CSIRO 1 in 3 Australian homes will get termites or white ants. So if you don’t have termites at the moment, chances are one of your neighbours does. And millions of timber-munching termites could soon be marching your way.
Termite Damage
Termites live together in colonies and travel up to 100 metres to find food (timber). A single colony is made up of millions of termites that can inflict $100,000 or more damage to your house in just a few months. The cost of termite damage in Australia exceeds $1 billion a year – more than storm and fire damage.
Termites are Invisible
Termites travel in underground tunnels. They enter your home through wall cavities and feast on the internal timber leaving the exterior shell intact. Most home owners don’t know they have termites until the damage is done.
What Should Happen During an Inspection?
Professional inspectors take about 2 hours to check everything thoroughly. They start outside by inspecting the fence, trees and logs – looking for any signs of termite activity in the yard. Then they check the exterior of your home including the guttering, hot water overflows, air-conditioning condensation pipes, weep holes, and concrete.
Inside they check the architraves, door and window frames, skirting boards, walls, and carpet edging. They even crawl into the ceiling paying particular attention to areas above bathrooms and laundry where moisture is likely to attract termites. And finally they look under your home – inspecting piers, ant caps, and cavity walls.
Cost for Termite Inspecition
The CSIRO recommends you have your home inspected for termites every 6-12 months. But don’t worry, it’s not expensive. You should expect to pay just $180-$250 to have an experienced termite inspector thoroughly inspect your home and give you a full written report.
If we find termites in your home we will credit your inspection fee towards treatment so you will pay no more than $550 for a full inspection and treatment that guarantees to rid your home of termites. (For smaller treatments may be even less)
